Our First Swap March 2012

It's time to start a ATC group!

I love ATC (Artist Trading Card) swaps. I think I first learned about them from my sister, and it did sound intreaging. So, when we started a guild, the IAGuild, it was a no brainer to have ATC swaps reagularly. I put posters up, hoping we would get artist from the area to participate, but alas it was only our family and friends who came. Imagine my surprize(no, actually it was no surprize), the talent in our first swap was amazing AND inspiring! Every time someone took out their cards and put them on the tables we all ran over like kids pressing their noses to the toy store windows. It was magical.

I loved every minute, creating the cards, seeing everyone else's cards and finally swaping my cards for theirs. Besides the size (cards are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2) there were no restrictions on what we could do, and the results were (I've said it before) inspiring.

I've been itching for a while now to do another swap, but we say we should do it, and never seem to find the time. But where there is a will there is a way, and throught the magic of internet communication, we are all just a facebook away. I participated in a maila swap once, and I thought, why not do one for my friends and family? It could be their new favorite thing to do.

So here we are, creating ATCs for a mail swap. And, since i find myself done with my set and waiting for sets to start arriving int he mail, I thought I might create a blog incase everyone wants to do again. The deadline is "in the mail by March 19th" and I can't wait to see what everyone came up with. It's going to be a good one!

Happy arting family and friends!
